Most insurance plans cover
physical therapy services if ordered by a physician. If you do not
have a physician, you can contact Pro Step and we can schedule an
appointment for you to see our Medical Director. In most cases,
the appointment is made within 48 hours. Below is a link that will
take you to our prescription copy that can be taken with you to the
physician for his/her recommendations and signature.
Often there may be deductibles and/or co-insurance payments. As a
courtesy to our clients, we make every effort to determine your benefit
status.
Initiating physical therapy
is a relatively simple procedure. After receiving a prescription
from your doctor, you can schedule an appointment for an initial
evaluation. Upon completing the necessary paperwork, a licensed
Physical Therapist will perform a detailed examination expanding on the
doctor's diagnosis. This evaluation would include several
assessments including ROM, strength, posture and possibly a number of
manual muscle testing techniques. Once the evaluation is complete,
the therapist will make recommendations detailing what would benefit the
patient for his/her condition. These may consist of modalities
(ultrasound, electric stimulation, ice) or manual therapy
(strengthening, stretching and range of motion). Your therapist
will then suggest follow-up visits for a short period of time where he
will teach you ways to help yourself and help prevent further injury.
